My Honest College Life Experience: How I Lost Myself, Found Myself & Grew Stronger
My college journey has been nothing less than a deep self-discovery experience.
Today, I truly feel proud of myself because if those difficult moments had not come into my life, I would never have learned how to handle future challenges with maturity and strength.
Now that I’m in the 3rd year of Computer Engineering, I can finally say that the last two years shaped me not only as a student but as a person.
They taught me about stress handling, confidence building, consistency, communication, friendships, and most importantly, understanding myself.
This is my real and honest college life experience, and I hope my journey connects with someone who’s going through something similar.
Before Entering College: My First Big Lesson
I still remember the day my CET result came. I had scored a very low percentile so low that it pushed me into depression. I was convinced no engineering college would give me admission. My hard work felt useless in just one moment.
My mom asked, “What is your next plan?”
But I had no answer. I cried, regretted, and blamed my bad luck.
Still, my mom didn’t give up.
She said, “Let’s check if there is any college that gives admission even on a low percentile.”
After endless enquiries, we finally found a college, and I got a seat in Computer Engineering.
That was the most precious moment of my life at that age.
That day taught me my first powerful lesson:
If one door closes, another door will open but only if you keep searching for solutions.
Adjusting to College Life: The Start of Change
Entering college felt like entering a new world. New faces. New teachers. New vibes. New expectations. I was nervous, underconfident, and introverted during the first few weeks. But the biggest surprise?
People I thought would never match my vibe later became the best people in my life.
This taught me:
Never judge people too early. Real friendships reveal themselves slowly.
I learned that college is not only about lectures and assignments. It’s also about:
-
handling responsibilities
-
managing emotions
-
building consistency
-
improving communication
-
learning to stand up for yourself
This was the beginning of rebuilding myself from zero.
The Part Where I Lost Myself Completely
My 1st year of college was the phase where I disconnected from who I truly was.
I stopped singing. I stopped painting. I stopped writing. I stopped laughing freely. I ignored self-care. I avoided new experiences. I suppressed my emotions.
I believed that only studies mattered.
But slowly, that decision drained me. I felt dull, robotic, and emotionally tired.
That’s when I realised something many students silently go through losing themselves because of academic pressure.
2nd Year: The Year of Realisation & Self-Discovery
My second year became the biggest turning point of my college life. I started introspecting deeply:
-
Who am I without studies?
-
What makes me feel alive?
-
Why do I feel emotionally stuck?
-
What am I losing by ignoring my creative side?
And I realised something powerful:
Creativity is not separate from studies it is emotional oxygen. Self-expression and self-care are essential for mental well-being. College life is not only about grades; it’s about discovering yourself.
This realisation changed everything inside me.
3rd Year: Restarting My Creative Life from Zero
When I entered my third year, I decided to choose myself again boldly and honestly. I restarted the creative habits I had abandoned.
I started my YouTube storytelling channel. I created my Instagram graphic design page . I opened myself to new experiences again . I rebuilt my emotional confidence. I learned to balance both studies and passion
This phase taught me:
Restarting is not weakness. Restarting is courage. You can rebuild a new version of yourself anytime you want.
My journey of creativity and self-discovery has just begun, and I’m proud of it.
What College Life Has Really Taught Me
Here are the biggest lessons I learned in these three years:
✔ Failure is not the end it’s a fresh start.
✔ Consistency beats talent every single time.
✔ Stress handling is a life skill, not a subject.
✔ Good friends can completely change your journey.
✔ Confidence grows slowly but strongly.
✔ There is always a solution if you keep searching.
✔ Creativity and self-care matter as much as studies.
✔ Every experience good or bad helps you grow.
These lessons are shaping me into the person I want to become.
Conclusion: My Life Is Still a Journey
When I look back, I feel proud of my imperfect journey not because everything went right, but because I survived everything that went wrong.
My college life has taught me resilience, patience, emotional balance, and courage.
I’m still growing. Still learning. Still discovering new parts of myself. Still continuing my beautiful journey of self-improvement.
If you feel lost, confused, or overwhelmed right now, remember:
You’re allowed to restart your life. Growth is slow, but it’s happening.
You are becoming stronger than you think.
Your journey is unique honor it, love it, and live it fully.
